We Walk....but we also raise money!

I really like CROP Walk.  It is one of the first social action events I attended after coming to Channing.  That first year, I pushed Helen and Rowan in a double stroller!  Wow, those days seem far away.   While I walked, I started talking with other Channing Folks, and it was great!  I learned what a caring and committed bunch of people we have.  I learned about how we can do so much more when we pool our resources.

I hope all our families will be able to take part in this year's CROP Walk.  It is on May 22.  You can Walk, sponsor some one else, be a volunteer, make a sign or spread the word.

Crop Walk 2009!

Crop Walk is a fun, family centered event that is held every year in Newport.  We almost did not have a Crop Walk this year, but a local woman decided it was too important to pass by.

Participants raise money by asking people to sponsor their walk with donations.  The walker can do a 5 or 10 mile course.  This year, the walk is on May 23, 2009.  I have walked in Crop Walk twice with my kids- once pushing a stroller, and the next time, they walked with me.  It is great to join with other local churches to make a difference.

Part of the money raised goes to other communities, but also part of the donations are used in OUR community, Aquidneck Island.

Soon, we will have Crop Walk forms and information at Channing.  Maybe your family would like to walk?
