The Flu, Me and You

Hi Folks,

This has been a tough week on the island.  With daily reports of serious effects of H1N1 coming from our neighbors, friends and schools, we are alarmed and worried.  We do what we feel is right to stay healthy or return to health.  For some of us, that means staying out of school or away from church.  What is important to me, as your staff religious educator, is that our children and youth continue to have a connection to their faith ESPECIALLY in this dramatic time.

Children need the comfort of our faith just as much as adults do.  RE classes are important.  This is why I am offering to all the RE Families that if you will be away from class, I will send you the lesson plan for this weeks class.  Certainly you need not do all of the content, but it can be nice to go over the topic or discussion points as a family.  Maybe try one of the games, or sing one of the songs.

If your family is actively sick with the flu, you won't have energy to do much, but you might want to light a chalice together and listen to each other's joys and concerns.

Let's stay connected and use the power of our community.  That's really why we do this church thing, right?

PS- drop me a line if you can't make it to teach or assist in class, thanks!
